Not sure what this Apple 2.0 is. Its monniker or tagline is:
By Philip Elmer-DeWitt
But he seems to be in the middle of MS vs Apple
It was not going well. And it reached a low point when, in my memory, the chairman of Microsoft called me a communist. Later, reading the transcript, I realized he didn’t really say that — although he was pretty feisty. To my editors’ credit, they printed the juiciest parts of the interview — including a brief mention of Apple (AAPL) — as a sidebar to the cover.
In honor of Gates’ last days at Microsoft (MSFT), it’s pasted below:
why do we collect? it must be our nature. whether it be nick-knacks, paddy-whacks or my favorite, digital content. most of us have hundreds of CDs and DVDs, but now the world of media has gone virtual, with 500GB drives the norm rather than exception. we realize that carrying a portable hard drive full of content is a lot easier than lugging so called compact discs around with us, hence the popularity of portable media players with more than a two-hundred million units sold, most of those as we all know from Apple.
before making its way to a digital appliance, this electronic content starts out somewhere, and that is within your PC. managing music in iTunes or WinAmp is not a very compelling user experience, and there is a lot more than just audio spinning within your computer hard drive these days. photos, movies and discovery of content through the world of Internet streamed video have changed the way people are entertained. cable & satellite TV just don’t cut for the on-demand generation it any longer.
while users have embraced digital content, the players and media center platforms have not kept up. Apple iTunes only (easily) plays “their store-bought” video and Microsoft Media Center requires third party applications and Codec’s (that fun geek term which means a playback decoder) to be complete. other platforms require you to buy a new box specifically designed to go along with a service (like VuDu, Roku’s Netflix box, or the like) and then require you to pay again for the content licensed specifically for it. we consider that “being had” twice, and that’s not nice. besides, those early adopters of Akimbo boxes now have a nice paperweight once they closed their proprietary service down.
this inadequacy in media playback led us to create boxee, where your local content is as important as what is available from the Internet. you will re-discover your “comfort content” (which is what I call the stuff you might have owned maybe since CD’s came out) in a new visual format, effortlessly. all this for free, with no monthly fees or proprietary service.
your digital media collection will never look the same with boxee running on your computer. it’s a whole new visual media world and the time has come for you to upgrade your media player. you know you want to, no, make that need to. head over to www.boxee.tv and get boxee! it’s time.
From the Flixwagon Lab, First-Ever: iPhone Broadcasts Live Video
You can go to their site and check out the video, or subscribe to their twitter feed but this is what I have been waiting for. Too bad I bought a camcorder I might have been able to make this do for vlogging but nothing can match the quality of my Cannon HV30, right?
Oh well, just great to see this kind of development for the iPhone and the App Store is so eagerly awaited on July 11th from this Mac Geek.

Anyway drifting away from NASCAR I think we should point ZuDfunck.com back to Popular Culture and what better represents PoP culture than Tech, Sports & Gossip. And what better blog to focus on that is ZuD and miniZuD.com

Hours after The Sun told how Maria Sharapova’s new outfit had been branded too manly by tennis fans, the Wimbledon babe gave her tuxedo-style gear its first public airing.
And she proved it DID have its advantage points.
The 21-year-old hitched up one side and flashed a glimpse of thigh, winning wolf-whistles from the crowd.

It's getting weird for thieves as technology takes over:
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Alison DeLauzon thought the snapshots and home videos of her infant son were gone for good when she lost her digital camera while on vacation in Florida.
Then a funny thing happened: her camera "phoned home."
Equipped with a special memory card with wireless Internet capability, DeLauzon's camera had not only automatically sent her holiday pictures to her computer, but had even uploaded photos of the miscreants who swiped her equipment bag after she accidentally left it behind at a restaurant.
"I opened up the Eye-Fi manager on the computer and, lo and behold, there are the guys that stole our cameras," said DeLauzon, a native of New York's Long Island suburb. "Not only is it the guy who stole our camera ... but the guy took a picture of (his accomplice) holding our other camera."
DeLauzon received the Eye-Fi, a 2-gigabyte SD memory card that fits into millions of digital cameras, as a holiday gift to go with her Canon camera.

Click to hear Dan Patrick's interview with Dick Stockton one of my favorite play by play dudes of all time. For those who aren't aware Dan is online with a show from 9-12 weekdays and has a huge archive of interviews he has done with sports figures and some actors he is tight with.
Van Gundy:Don't try to convince me about home-court advantage. Yes, it has been a difference-maker this postseason. But, no, it does not serve Boston well. I've always believed that the 2-3-2 format is a significant disadvantage for the home team. Yes, the Celtics could play four games in Boston, but they need to win the first two. Advantage: road team, baby.
Michael Hiestand:As far as the 2-3-2 Finals schedule format, I still think the best team wins. But without question, that format benefits the home team. If you split the first two games and win one of three on the road, you come home down 3-2 — but with two home games to close it out. That's a great advantage to the Celtics.
So there you have it. If your like me after the lull since the conference finals you may of lost your Mojo for playoff basketball and have difficulty getting it flowing again. But hopefully you get it back before 9pm EDT when the ABC network will bring you one of the best NBA Finals ever. Then there's the series' big selling point: It will let baby boomers marinate in the resurrection of the once-famous rivalry that will let them reminisce about their youth. Plus they can tell today's youngsters about the great stars of the good old days, and today's youth presumably will have to play along if those baby boomers are paying for the game-time snacks.
From a blog named blogtopicz:
Ok, lot's of folks have dumped on poor Britney... no, make that the entire damn universe! Let's face it, Train wrecks are fun to watch when you're not on board!
So, there I was in line at Best Buy... checking out the magazine rack... when I see this picture of Britney on the Cover of (the) Rolling Stone. What made it UNIQUE, however, was how someone had put the front magazine back onto the rack. That wrinkle/frown on Brit that resulted ... was ... too friggin' cool. Click from my smart phone and there ya have it. They say A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words. I think this one says it all! So, without further ado, I give you "Britney's Rolling Bummer Stoned"
Yeah Don Imus, the dude has come back sharper than ever and you can listen on WABC's website from 6-10 weekday mornings. Dick Gregory a man I have always admired is interviewed and you can listen to it at his site. He says meaningful things with humor and that way we all might listen and act. From his site I saw this:
Dick Gregory was on
the frontline in the sixties during the Civil Rights Era; today he
continues to be a "drum major for justice and equality."
Gregory, Richard Claxton 'Dick' (Born, October 12, 1932, St. Louis,
Mo.), African American comedian and civil rights activist whose social
satire changed the way white Americans perceived African American
comedians since he first performed in public. Dick Gregory entered the
national comedy scene in 1961 when Chicago’s Playboy Club (as a direct
request from publisher Hugh Hefner) booked him as a replacement for
white comedian, ?Professor? Irwin Corey.
Gregory's activism continued into the 1990s. In response to published
allegations that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) had supplied
cocaine to predominantly African American areas in Los Angeles, thus
spurring the crack epidemic, Gregory protested at CIA headquarters and
was arrested. In 1992 he began a program called "Campaign for Human
Dignity" to fight crime in St. Louis neighborhoods.
In 1973, the year he released his comedy album Caught in the Act,
Gregory moved with his family to Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he
developed an interest in vegetarianism and became a nutritional
consultant. In 1984 he founded Health Enterprises, Inc., a company that
distributed weight loss products. In 1987 Gregory introduced the
Slim-Safe Bahamian Diet, a powdered diet mix, which was immensely
profitable. You can read more on Dick Gregory. Enter site
