Shop Until You Drop, It's the American Way

So America did good the day after Turkey Day!

Though not as many shopped, more money was spent!

That gives us all hope. Hope that things might turn around. At least things aren't as bad if you all had stayed home! I feel good. But I knew this would happen, cause I know how you women are. Y'all can't stay home when there are bargains to be had. Color TV's, winter coats, Diamond rings, toys for junior to play with. Hell we all want deals, that's what got us in this fix to begin with! Remember?

I can get That Big Ass house for nothing down. And not make payments till when? Hell yeah, where do I sign? The thought of getting over on somebody or something is the American way! So it is good to see we still have that instinct alive and well in us all! But don't stop now America.

Don't stop now. We need to make it all up now, so you get that cold turkey sandwich, pack up the kids and lets hit Wal-Mart once again! Get that plasma for the bedroom, get that new washer dryer, hell get the front loading kind. We'll make this a X-mas to remember.

Don't stop now, fix the economy all by yourself, you'll be an American Hero!

Plaxico Burress Accidentally Shoots Himself

I know he's from Michigan State and all, but Damn! How far can this man's life get from becoming some cheap-ass reality show on Fox? Speaking of Fox, Jay gets another scoop:
Source
Plaxico Burress' controversial year has just taken a turn for the worse.

The New York Giants wide receiver accidentally shot himself in the leg on Friday night, FOXSports.com has learned, not long after being ruled out of Sunday's game against the Redskins with a hamstring injury.

He spent the night in the hospital and the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The team is still trying to gather further information on the incident.

This has been a troubled year for Burress, who opened the season with a lengthy contract dispute. He was also suspended one game in October for violating team rules, benched during another game and hit with a series of fines.

The Giants are atop the NFC standings with a 10-1 record and are vying for their seventh straight win Sunday when they face Washington.

Burress initially pulled his injured hamstring in the Giants' win over Baltimore on Nov. 16. He then aggravated the injury in the opening series last Sunday against Arizona, and then sat out the rest of that game.

Domenik Hixon, who is dealing with an ankle injury, will start in Burress' place.

Lori Hall Steele, Gone Too Soon, But Not To Be Forgotten

She comes to us unrecognized but worth a google search to better understand her affinity for old nut houses and their preservation for one. And she comes across in this article as being a wonderful person and mother and one who will be missed by all of us:

Source  A local writer whose struggles with a paralyzing neurological condition and subsequent inability to work launched a fund-raising campaign to help save her home has died at the age of 44.

Lori Hall Steele died Wednesday in Howell, after a mystifying illness that was diagnosed as either Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, or Lyme disease.

A self-employed single mother and prolific writer whose nearly 3,000 features, essays and news stories have appeared in print and online publications nationwide, Hall Steele lost feeling in her feet in 2007 and eventually became completely paralyzed. She had been unable to work since mid-March, prompting friends to mobilize to help pay her mortgage and medical bills, which topped $100,000.

2008 College Football Season Almost Over

Don't know if you folks realize it or not but the show is almost over. This grand 2008 season is almost at an end and if you haven't been paying attention, shame on you! It's been one hell of a season! Ok maybe not as good as '07 but its had its moments. Take today for example:

College football: Georgia Tech at Georgia, CBS, noon. Virginia at Virginia Tech, ESPN, noon. South Carolina at Clemson, ESPN2, noon. Kansas vs. Missouri, in Kansas City, Mo., FSN, 12:30 p.m. State Farm Bayou Classic, Grambling State vs. Southern, at New Orleans, NBC, 2 p.m. Baylor at Texas Tech, Versus, 3:30 p.m. Regional coverage, Florida at Florida State or Maryland at Boston College, ABC, 3:30 p.m. Kentucky at Tennessee, ESPN2, 6:30 p.m. Oregon at Oregon State, Versus, 7 p.m. Notre Dame at Southern California, ESPN, 8 p.m. Oklahoma at Oklahoma State, ABC, 8 p.m.

The ones that are grabbing my eye are So Carolina-then Fla-then ND vs USC. I am hoping for an upset in some of these games cause I just don't want these big teams just walking all over everyone. So join me as we root for the dogs and get some Blood on the Plasma as the day roars on.

Lebron James Dares to Attack Charles Barkley

Called him stupid! You don't talk to Charles Barkley like that!

That's like Fredo telling Mikey not to talk to Mo Green like that. Mo Green learned his lesson

Source— LeBron James reacted strongly to Charles Barkley's comments that the Cavaliers star isn't showing respect for Cleveland fans and his teammates by discussing his possible free agency following the 2010 season.

"He's stupid. That's all I've got to say about that," James said Friday night before the Cavaliers' game against Golden State.

Barkley made the comments on TNT's NBA studio show and Dan Patrick's radio show.

"If I was LeBron James, I would shut the hell up," the Hall of Famer said on Patrick's show. "I'm a big LeBron fan. He's a stud. You gotta give him his props. I'm getting so annoyed he's talking about what he's going to do in two years. I think it's disrespectful to the game. I think it's disrespectful to the Cavaliers."

Beatle John Lennon Finally Forgiven by Catholic Church

JOHN LENNON'S JESUS REMARKS FORGIVEN
The Vatican has forgiven the late John Lennon for his 1966 remark about the Beatles being "more popular than Jesus." In an article commemorating the 40th anniversary of "The Beatles" (aka "The White Album"), the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Roman, opines that Lennon's comment, "which triggered deep indignation mainly in the United States, after many years sounds only like a 'boast' by a young working-class Englishman faced with unexpected success, after growing up in the legend of Elvis (Presley) and rock and roll." The article went on to praise the Beatles' music: "The fact remains that 38 years after breaking up, the songs of the Lennon-McCartney brand have shown an extraordinary resistance to the passage of time, becoming a source of inspiration for more than one generation of pop musicians." Lennon's remark came during a wide-ranging interview with Maureen Cleave of the London Evening Standard, was first published on March 4th, 1966: "Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue with that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now; I don't know which will go first -- rock 'n' roll or Christianity. Jesus was all right but his disciples were thick and ordinary. It's them twisting it that ruins it for me." The comment prompted violent protests, particularly in the United States where Beatles records were burned and banned from some radio stations. Lennon subsequently made a half-hearted apology.

NEW YORK (AP) — What a relief! The free public restrooms operated by the Charmin toilet paper company in Times Square during the holidays are being rolled out for another year.

It's the third straight year for the 20 deluxe stalls.

The plush potties feature flat-screen televisions, attendants dressed in tuxedos and plenty of Charmin.

The loos are so luxurious that Charmin promises Times Square tourists will feel like kings sitting on their thrones before making their royal flushes.

The toilets are being inaugurated Monday with a ceremonial first flush by pop singer and Broadway star Joey Fatone.

They'll be open every day through the end of the year except Christmas Day. For the first time, they'll be open on New Year's Eve for the crowd watching the 2009 ball drop.

Overdose Death Broadcast Live on Justin.tv

Jtv
Justin.Tv's Tag Line is: Justin.tv is the leader in live video and the place to broadcast and share video online. I doubt they ever imagined what happened Wednesday Night as part of their programming schedule:

In a striking display of the power of live video, Abraham K. Biggs committed suicide on Wednesday while broadcasting himself on video site Justin.tv. As we understand it from various forum posts, the 19-year-old Floridian was apparently egged on by commenters on Justin.tv and fellow forum users on bodybuilding.com. Biggs overdosed on pills while on camera and appeared to be breathing for hours until watchers realized he might be serious, at which point they alerted the police. The video kept running until police and EMTs broke Biggs’ door down and blocked the camera’s view.

We confirmed Biggs’ death with the Broward County medical examiner. The Justin.tv video and many of the forum posts have been taken down.

When asked about the broadcast via email, Justin.tv CEO Michael Seibel said:

As for the broadcaster incident last night, we don’t comment on individual videos, however, our policy prohibits inappropriate content on Justin.tv. We rely on the community to flag videos that they feel are objectionable. Once a video is flagged, it is reviewed and quickly removed from the system if it violates our Terms of Use.

We won’t post the disturbing content here, but much of it is still online. Images of the broadcast have been posted here and here, and there’s also a suicide note from Biggs, who went by the screenname CandyJunkie. An account of forum users watching the broadcast and calling the police is here. There are also rest-in-peace comments on what appears to be Biggs’ MySpace page. The Justin.tv broadcast used to be here.

NFL Week 12 Announcing and Coverage Maps

I keep ripping this dude off because his Commentary and Maps are fascinating:

Man, I still can't believe how fast this season is flying by. We've only got a month and a half left and the games are obviously going to mean more and more each week. CBS once again has a slew of great games highlighted by Nantz and Simms heading to Tennessee for the Jets-Titans game. The B-Team even gets a good AFC East matchup in Miami as the Patriots try to solve the Wildcat Offense a second time.

FOX once again decided to send Buck and Aikman to a crappy Dallas game, while the "B" and "C" Teams get great games. Kenny, Moose and Goose head to AZ for the Giants-Cards game and Brennaman and Billick get the NFC South battle between the Panthers and Falcons. I have no idea why they continue to do that, but I'm sure the other crews aren't complaining.

FYI- The FOX maps will be coming later on in the day via The 506. Here's what we've got so far....

NFL-N Thursday Night Football: Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers (Bob Papa, Cris Collinsworth

NFL Ratings So Far in Week 12 2008

This was a shocker for me those clowns on Fox do not deserve the audience they get. I think it is just the fantasy football freaks too lazy to go on line to see how their players did.  That's got to be it, it can't be the clownish behavior, yucking it up madness, that permeates that show. Anyway check it out:

A look at who's up and who's not as the NFL, which by far has the highest TV ratings in U.S. sports, heads into Week 12:

Fox. Its Sunday afternoon NFC package, including TV stars such as the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, is averaging 10.4% of the USA's 114 million TV households — same as last year. But its OT postgame show, which runs 7-7:30 p.m. ET when Fox has national doubleheaders, is averaging 7.3% of U.S. households — up 7%. Meaning, that studio show gets a higher TV rating than nearly all sports events outside the NFL.

NBC. Its Sunday night games average 10.3% of U.S. households, same as last year. The remaining schedule includes only one likely hit — Giants-Cowboys in Week 15 — and iffy games like San Diego Chargers-Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which could be replaced by another game thanks to NBC's flexible scheduling, which allows the network to move a more attractive game from Sunday afternoon to Sunday night.

CBS. Without some of the regular-season New England Patriots games that produced blockbuster ratings last year, CBS' Sunday afternoon AFC package is averaging 9.7% — down 6% from last season. CBS has offered to help in any way it can with Tom Brady's rehab.

ESPN. With its Dallas-Philadelphia Eagles game being the most-watched game ever on cable TV, ESPN'sMonday Night Football games are averaging 7.8% of U.S. households — up 8%.

NFL Network. The league-owned channel, squabbling with cable TV operators about the fees it would charge them, is available in less than 40% of U.S. households. NFL Network games are averaging 2.3% of U.S. households — down 39%.

College Football's Dynamite Games

Just take a gander at this Lineup:

College football: Michigan at Ohio State, ABC, noon. West Virginia at Louisville, ESPN, noon. Indiana at Purdue, ESPN2, noon. Yale at Harvard, Versus, noon. Bethune-Cookman vs. Florida A&M, at Orlando, ESPN Classic, 2 p.m. Syracuse at Notre Dame, NBC, 2:30 p.m. Washington at Washington State, FSN, 3 p.m.Regional coverage, Boston College at Wake Forest; Michigan State at Penn State; or Stanford at California, ABC and ESPN2, 3:30 p.m. Mississippi at LSU, CBS, 3:30 p.m. Air Force at TCU, Versus, 3:30 p.m. Oregon State at Arizona, Versus, 7 p.m. Pittsburgh at Cincinnati, ESPN2, 7:15 p.m. Florida State at Maryland, ESPN, 7:45 p.m.Texas Tech at Oklahoma, ABC, 8 p.m.

Makes ya Proud to Be a Fan doesn't it? I have hard nipples right now just  looking at that line up!

Welcome Thursday visitors

Welcome Thursday visitors

My name is ZuD and I am just so glad to have you visit me

If you are from Wizbang I don't mind having to spend the fifty Bucks to get 'cha over here.

It's worth it I may not agree with everything that is posted over there but you are a rancorous group of folks

I love Thursdays televiewing to night is plentiful

Just hope I can stay up

Do you watch TV ZuDDies

Here is my line-up:

Earl at 8

Univ of Miami football l think they are playing NC or NC State either way they win and if it's NC they play a former Miami coach which should be intriguing.

If college isn't your cup of tea Cincy plays Pitt on NFL Network and now that Gumble is gone it's so much better. If you can stand Collingsworth who is a former Bengal I am just saying....

At 9pm we have TWA wresting which is the most Bizarre wrestling shows. My only reason to watch is Mick Foley whose book I have been meaning to read.

At 10 on FX has the weirdest of Sitcoms Sunny in Philly-I just love Charley on that show and of course Danny De Vito is priceless.

So that's my line up for this Elitist Media Consumer

Oh yeah

NBA on TNT, Charles is always a trip if he is in the mood.

Let's gossip when you get a chance- over

Tony Romo a Man's Man, Pops for Homeless Man's Movie Ticket

Now I am no great fan of Romo his fumbled hold to win that playoff game still sticks in ZuD's craw. But hey, he is a regular dude, as we cite:

Further evidence that Tony Romo really is a swell fella

Tim MacMahon  ripped from the Dallas Morning News

A homeless man who goes by Doc was cashing in change at a Cinemark theater in Dallas when a guy walked up and offered to pay his way into the movie. Doc, who planned to spend his day passing out flyers for a few bucks, accepted a rain check before realizing that he recognized the generous gentleman.

"Was that Tony Romo?" Doc asked the kid behind the counter.

It sure was. Doc hustled across the street to the consignment store that paid him to occasionally pass out flyers and requested the day off. By the time he got back to the theater, "Role Model" had already started.

Romo, who confirmed the story but didn't want to elaborate, waved Doc over to sit by him and his buddy. Doc sheepishly mentioned that he hadn't showered in a few days.

"Don't worry about that," Romo said. "I'm used to locker rooms."

And so the $67 million quarterback and a man who doesn't have $6.70 to his name sat next to each other and shared laughs for 90 minutes or so.

For Romo, who made news by changing a couple's tire on the side of the road on the way home the night of the season opener, it was just another kind gesture to a random stranger. It meant the world to Doc.

"For me, it was a blessing," Doc said. "It came at just the right time. It gave me some encouragement and faith in mankind. I just wanted to say thank you."

Randi Zuckerberg Is Ready For Her Close-up

Denton era Blogs like to take shots and this one is most intriguing as I can't decide if she is pretty or not but she has a hold on me and I will follow her as she follows what ever track she is on:

Facebook CEO's sister turns on her Valley friends

Randi Zuckerberg, the limelight-seeking sister of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has learned a key lesson of media success: As you scale the ladder, make sure to jab your stiletto heels into the faces of those you climb over. Zuckerberg, whose day job is in Facebook's marketing department, has been writing weekly for former magazine editor Tina Brown's mostly ignored Daily Beast website since it launched — but only recently has she turned mean. We love it, of course. The target of her freshly poisoned pen: the hipster lip dub, those single-shot singalongs so popular with startups and would-be Internet celebrities. What Zuckerberg does write: "In case there was any doubt that the chief purpose of the Internet is to perpetuate narcissism, lip dub videos put that to rest." What she does not write:

Deadspin Takes a Shot at ESPN's Tolerance Level

At least on first read I think that's what this is about. ZuD has the luxury of knowing he will never work for anyone but himself and having a catbird seat viewing the media the way I do I can say anything I want. SO I love citing these kind of shots across the bow. As I posted earlier I am greatly concerned about the direction ESPN is taking us Sports addicts and being at their mercy doesn't feel good, so anything I can do to bash them, I will capitalize on.

I will however say that the clowns at FoX did an awful job covering College football and I am overjoyed they will loose the BCS, but you already know that, don't cha sports fans, so suffice to say, lets not let ESPN get to full of themselves and have a nice day!

I cite:

Rick Telander Does Not Fear ESPN's Wrath -- But He Does Respect It

In a tough economic market, you'll find many sports writers scaling back on their criticism for the sake of job security. Trying to garner attention through traditional shit-stirring isn't the best way to keep your self afloat right now — piss off the wrong source or anger enough readers and you may find yourself expendable. Chicago Sun-Times columnist and Mariotti-foil Rick Telander penned a column today about the WWL's acquisition of the BCS bowl games, but then veered into a somewhat dangerous territory of half-heartedly criticizing ESPN's steamrolling empire. He suggests the corporation has its tentacles around so many sportswriters necks that there isn't anyone left to bitch about them besides the person they pay to do it, staff ombudsman Leanne Schreiber. Oh, and, so he says, "renegade bloggers", of course. Telander also mentions that he's worked for ESPN in the past and still pops up on "Rome Is Burning" every once in a while. So he doesn't exactly go after the network with knives out. No, instead he goes to the best source for truth (and bowel movement Facebook updates), Jason Whitlock:

''It's like if every political writer in the country was working for just the Obama campaign,'' former ESPN writer and commentator Jason Whitlock, now with Foxsports.com and the Kansas City Star, said when I asked him about the conundrum. Whitlock was basically fired from ESPN awhile back for being too critical of certain company aspects and individuals. ''I think ESPN is now more of an organization that needs to be covered, rather than one that covers organizations,'' Whitlock said.

Whether this little essay will have any long-term impact on Telander's ability to work for ESPN in the future has yet to be seen. ESPN is "looking into the essay" to see for sure, but I'd say for now that he will be allowed to sit on Jim Rome's couch in the near future. I will update when they make their final decision...

FlashForward: Soup Kitchen Viewing of BCS Once ESPN Takes Over

Bcssoupkitchen

In a land not so far away, as we blog about here. Pay TV is out of control

BCS Goes to Pay TV

So it's a done deal according to the Sports Media God

The greedy bastards cut the 'what would Bo do' and went for the cash. Well ya knew it was only a matter of time when all of sports would go to Pay TV. I just didn't figure it would be this soon. I was even thinking of getting rid of my Cable to save a few doneros, but I would freak out if I couldn't see Ohio State blow another BCS game. It just goes to show you how greedy these bastards are. I thought college folks were above this money grabing that the NFL has  been  on with The NFL Network fiasco but apparently not.The college game has had a great year with ESPN Saturday nite Bonanza's and they figured hey if ESPN can do that for Saturday nites, what can they do for the BCS.

In fact I am starting to fear ESPN. What if they decide they want more money from me, the Elitist Media Consumer? Am I gonna be on the wrong end of this too? Am I not going to be able to afford ESPN in the future? What then dear ZuDDie am I gonna do, have to watch the games at some soup kitchen if I can't get my money right? This effects us all. This is what folks talked about 20 years ago when the NAB first sounded the warnings of pay TV. How would you feel if you had to pay to watch your teams on TV. Damn if it didn't happen! And damn if it isn't here in 2 years.

Now  l know you need to pay the freight at times, but damn! I didn't think if would be for football, for football, I'd  have to pay to watch football?
