Blogging About Divorce Can Be Painful For The Ex

Focusing on Topics non NASCAR for a few days. Found this in NYTimes about a woman who Blogs the details of her failed marriage to the chagrin of the ex-husband:
Nytimescom

For the blogger, the writing can be therapeutic.

Until the morning her husband, David Sals, told her he “was done” with their marriage, Jennifer Neal had portrayed him so lovingly on her blog that he was called DearSweetDave. By the afternoon of that October day last year, Ms. Neal had shared what she portrayed as his perfidy with the 55,000 regular readers she says visit NakedJencom.

Soon after, readers came to know him by a far less flattering name, and as the guy whose insensitivity made Jen so sick that she was throwing up every day and so poor that she lost her house in Santa Cruz, Calif.

And when a despairing Jen discovered in February that her ex-husband had put his information up on Match.com, an Internet dating service, she linked to it from her blog, giving her readers a chance to share their thoughts.

Mr. Sals protested, but Ms. Neal held firm: “If he wants to tell his side of the story, he should get his own blog.”

There's a fantastic blogging platform called tumblr that offers free, yes Free hosting all you would pay for is a domain name. It is the most attractive layout as well as providing a simple interface for posting video, audio, photo's and various forms of text. NASCAR Blogger ZuDfunck Opening Week Remarks

Nascarzud_2 I want to say after less than a week of being a NASCAR Blogger-

Yeah Sure! Less than a week, so how can I claim the title of NASCAR Blogger?

Because ZuDfunck says so (to borrow a phrase from my favorite WWE wrestler)

That NASCAR fans or fans of NASCAR Blogs are the best fans in the WORLD!

And that’s not just me playing up to you or sucking up, whichever you prefer. I truly mean it. I wish I’d exposed myself sooner! WHAT? Did he just say that?

No really- I use to hide my affection and interest- nay, fascination with stock car racing. Now granted, it’s only been 3 or 4 years, but all the same. Thank you for your attention and interest. I will attempt to keep the Mojo working and devote my energies and interest in the sport to elevate the NASCAR community of Blogs and those out there reading and writing posts about NASCAR.

Dude is still around

So in case you think I faded I didn't. Just trying to get I over the sticker shock of the MacBook Air. Holy Jesus 3100 bucks for that beauty? Not in this lifetime. Too many mouths to feed and debts to pay to swallow that transaction! I am typing this entry on my iPhone which will be my last luxury for sometime. Last year I had a MacBook and it didn't really set the world ablaze, so I can't see why that would change now. Jobs did update the iPhone with some new features so I thank'em for that. Its still the coolest gizmo I own and upgradeable anytime they want to throw us a bone.

Why We Do It

Though a bit dated, this is one Vlog post I am most proud of.  Dial a Trip is long gone and vlogging isn't what I do lately, so substitute  Blog for Vlog and this message still applies.

ESPN Positioning Itself For Supremacy

Most startling article in NYTimes:

ESPN and Yahoo Sports are on a furious hiring binge, offering reporters and columnists more than they ever imagined they could make in journalism. And ESPN, in particular, has gone after the biggest stars at newspapers and magazines, signing them for double and triple what they were earning — $150,000 to $350,000 a year for several writers, and far more for a select handful...

...The competition for writers has even produced bidding wars, especially for big-name columnists like Rick Reilly (from Sports Illustrated to ESPN), Howard Bryant (from The Post to ESPN) and Selena Roberts (from The New York Times to Sports Illustrated) — but also for less widely known reporters. People who were briefed on the deals said that Mr. Reilly’s contract, easily the biggest of the recent signings, was worth more than $3 million a year.

“It’s the exact same model as what happened to athletes,” said Leigh Steinberg, a top sports agent. “We’re seeing free agency for sports journalists.”...

ESPN declines to reveal precise numbers, but in the last 18 months, it has hired at least 15 writers and editors from major newspapers and magazines, most of whom are expected to feed material to all of its platforms. Vince Doria, senior vice president and director of news, says that ESPN has 80 to 100 reporters and producers, not including its many columnists, where “five years ago, that number was closer to 50.”

Analysts say it generates far more profit — about $2 billion a year — than any other business built around a cable network...

ZuD regrets that long ago pass at a journalism class, Damn!

TriFecta of Topics Does Work: Tech, Sports and Pop Culture

To contradict the comment left on Fark.com for ZuD:

wrek [TotalFark] 2007-12-17 01:03:14 PM
Pick a topic. Sport, Tech AND Pop Culture? WTF? The sites that succeed out there pick one and go with it. You don't see gizmondo interviewing the 49er's quarterback.. pick a topic, pick an audience. Anyway, welcome to Fark... we don't like you.

I take exception based on the success ZuD has experienced in covering the triumvirate. As I said the other day Fark.com has a sour and caustic way of addressing the issues and topics of the day and as such negates their value and importance. Glad it only cost me forty bucks to find that out...
