At&t and Verizon Up Rates

Shame on folks who allow this to happen, Vonage is cheap, Skype is practical, Lots of options don't act like it is 1982 dump em, of course if you have an iPhone its not as easy but if you have options that is the only way to Squelch this kind of monopolistic pricing!

AT&T and Verizon are raising prices for caller ID and other popular phone services by as much as 300%, even as they continue to push regulators to loosen up because of increased competition.

AT&T (T) and Verizon (VZ) have argued they need pricing flexibility to compete with cable TV and others offering Internet-based phone services. Dozens of states have acquiesced, giving carriers freedom to jack up prices.

In California this month, AT&T raised prices for several stand-alone features: Anonymous call rejection now costs $5 from $1.90; caller ID rose to $9.99 from $6.17. Some local toll calls — calls that aren't considered long-distance but don't qualify as local — jumped by more than 200%.

In Ohio, AT&T raised the price of call forwarding and three-way calling from $4 each to $5.99. Automatic call back now costs $1.99 per use, up from 70 cents.

Verizon has made similar moves. Call forwarding now costs $3 a month in Ohio, a 300% increase from 75 cents. Call waiting is now $5 a month, up from $3.

Apple Succumbs to Pressure from ZuD on $399 iPhone Rebate

I feel a little better about Apple today
What with a half the gouging being given back
That wireless keyboard is in my in sight
So thanks Steve for being a gentleman and honoring those who held Apple in best regards until Wednesday

This quote chafes a bit:

‘Second, being in technology for 30+ years I can attest to the fact that the technology road is bumpy. There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cutoff date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever.’

Whatever...?

That having happen to me four times in my short 2 year history of being on the Apple Tech Pipe!

But I feel better today and that is all I need to continue my addiction to all that is Apple.

ZuD no longer a Troll for iPhone or iMac

So rather than be a Troll for the iMac and iPhone which I truly attribute to making me a better person than most.

I need to get off that narrow plank and open this blog up to more significant issues like what Pop to drink, Coffee to buy and what pair of shoes to wear.

Now that would draw a crowd
And after all-
The name of the game in Blogging is to get the most clicks and link backs
Than those political windbags create!

There's more to Blogging than who should be castrated for their political leanings
Be it right or left
So get me off your browser if your looking for political rants
ZuD was never wired that way
And the good Lord willing, I won't stoop to that level!
This is Psychotic Blogging dude
Not that political masturbation that permeates the Web.

iPhone Explodes after Unlocking Attempt

Now what appears to be the most serious case of iPhone unlock attempt-gone-awry has surfaced.

A picture posted to ImageShack tells the story:

The user whose iPhone exploded posted the following to the “Hackintosh” forums:

“We were so happy, all the software part was done, so we started opening the iphone. The antenna cover was a bit tricky but eventually it came off. Then we started to open the metal cover (after taking out the 3 screws) and PUFF, up it went in smoke, I think my collegue must have touched something. It literally went up in black smoke. I was so hot that when I tried to pick it up I burnt my fingers. So, this is for sure the most difficult part of the whole process. I don’t know what he did, as I had just stepped out of the room to fetch something when I heard a scream…they got such a fright.”

Unlock at your own risk.

Cracking open the Apple iPhone

Apple iPhone completely disassembled

The iPhone blends a revolutionary touch-screen interface, media player, and smartphone into a slick package.

After waiting in line, spending $600, signing a two-year AT&T contract, and activating the iPhone, we decided that the next sensible action was to take the thing apart -- in classic TechRepublic Cracking Open style. Get a look at the hardware inside the 8GB iPhone and see whether we got it back together in working condition.
