Blogging About Divorce Can Be Painful For The Ex

Focusing on Topics non NASCAR for a few days. Found this in NYTimes about a woman who Blogs the details of her failed marriage to the chagrin of the ex-husband:
Nytimescom

For the blogger, the writing can be therapeutic.

Until the morning her husband, David Sals, told her he “was done” with their marriage, Jennifer Neal had portrayed him so lovingly on her blog that he was called DearSweetDave. By the afternoon of that October day last year, Ms. Neal had shared what she portrayed as his perfidy with the 55,000 regular readers she says visit NakedJencom.

Soon after, readers came to know him by a far less flattering name, and as the guy whose insensitivity made Jen so sick that she was throwing up every day and so poor that she lost her house in Santa Cruz, Calif.

And when a despairing Jen discovered in February that her ex-husband had put his information up on Match.com, an Internet dating service, she linked to it from her blog, giving her readers a chance to share their thoughts.

Mr. Sals protested, but Ms. Neal held firm: “If he wants to tell his side of the story, he should get his own blog.”

ZuDfunck's Tumblelog Archive

There's a fantastic blogging platform called tumblr that offers free, yes Free hosting all you would pay for is a domain name. It is the most attractive layout as well as providing a simple interface for posting video, audio, photo's and various forms of text. FOX's Daytona 500 Telecast to Employ Gophers

Fox_logo

According to the best Sports page in the Nation, and who will have a great NASCAR preview section this Friday, Michael Hiestand, the Sports Media God reports the employment of Gophers:

Gophers on Fox:  On Sunday, Fox for the first time will plant cameras in the track at a Daytona 500. The four so-called Gopher Cams, says Fox's Hill, will also get their own animated scrambling gopher to pop up onscreen to alert viewers. But don't bother writing protest letters to Fox: Hill hastens to add "no gophers will be harmed in the actual production."

Buried cameras, meant to shoot up, have been put in basketball courts, football fields, baseball diamonds, in ski-jump ramps — and on NASCAR tracks. But Fox's Gopher Cams, located inches inside the yellow boundary line, will be high-def and wired for sound. With a lens less than a half-inch in diameter, they'll have a protective cover rising less than a quarter-inch above the track surface. (Overall, Fox will use at least 77 cameras Sunday, including 24 manned cameras.) Also Sunday, Fox will debut a new theme song, NASCAR Love, whose lyrics include a "love" for "when they're making lots and lots of noise." Romantic.

Seventy Seven cameras! Good Lord. If ZuD can share for a moment, part of NASCAR's attraction for this tech geek is the technology involved and employed at the races. The behind the scenes equipment and people used to televise these events is fascinating to me so even if the race is a Bust the telecast is always enthralling.

At&t and Verizon Up Rates

Shame on folks who allow this to happen, Vonage is cheap, Skype is practical, Lots of options don't act like it is 1982 dump em, of course if you have an iPhone its not as easy but if you have options that is the only way to Squelch this kind of monopolistic pricing!

AT&T and Verizon are raising prices for caller ID and other popular phone services by as much as 300%, even as they continue to push regulators to loosen up because of increased competition.

AT&T (T) and Verizon (VZ) have argued they need pricing flexibility to compete with cable TV and others offering Internet-based phone services. Dozens of states have acquiesced, giving carriers freedom to jack up prices.

In California this month, AT&T raised prices for several stand-alone features: Anonymous call rejection now costs $5 from $1.90; caller ID rose to $9.99 from $6.17. Some local toll calls — calls that aren't considered long-distance but don't qualify as local — jumped by more than 200%.

In Ohio, AT&T raised the price of call forwarding and three-way calling from $4 each to $5.99. Automatic call back now costs $1.99 per use, up from 70 cents.

Verizon has made similar moves. Call forwarding now costs $3 a month in Ohio, a 300% increase from 75 cents. Call waiting is now $5 a month, up from $3.
