NBA Playoff time when the NBA plays for real. ZuD is pulling for a Celtic/Laker NBA Final don't know what the odds of that are but it will certainly make ABC happy as the previous finals have been tiresome and predictable. Here's hoping for a great set of match ups which we get in the West every year. Too bad TNT is stuck with the East this year. Graphics from NBA.com

Brett Favre to Join NFL Today on CBS or NASCAR?

Brett_favre As we speculate on Brett Favres' future I would like to see Brett get hired by CBS Sports to replace Shannon Sharpe, that marble mouthed dude has outlived his welcome and if that's not possible put Brett in the wings with the third segment and maybe supplant Boomer or Marino down the road.
That of course is ZuD's second choice, as we would love to see him go into NASCAR. Probably not as a driver as in college he had a near death experience driving. For all we know he doesn't even drive a car anymore after that. But as former NFL quarterbacks such as Aikman and Staubach have shown it is a fertile field for once great, washed up quarterbacks.

USA Today's Sports Media God has a take on all this.

Tuesday, networks wouldn't elaborate on plans to corral Favre. Which isn't surprising, given nobody likes to end up looking like an also-ran if they don't succeed. And networks figure there's no point in having their on-air types fret about being dumped for Favre — until, that is, that actually happens.

California Racing This Weekend Non-existent, Watch the Oscars

Don't know about your weekend but ZuD is about ready to switch over to ABC and watch the Oscars cause this California racing weekend has been one incredible Bust! Here this big fella is going to give the OK and we will be off racing. Think of the drivers who have to do double duty today. Lots of driving.

Give the Fox Gopher Cam a Name

Fox is looking for You to provide a name for the little gopher click on Image to go to it.

Gopher_cam

Television's never-ending goal is to bring the viewer as close to the action as possible," said FOX Sports Chairman David Hill. "We've had great past success with Catcher-Cam and Diamond-Cam in our MLB coverage and Grass Cam and Wall-Cam in NASCAR on FOX broadcasts.

"However, Gopher Cam, and forgive us for having some fun with the name, is different. These are HD cameras developed specifically for this use. The pictures are phenomenal, and the audio that the mikes provide is mean and loud. It's a tremendous complement to our Emmy-caliber NASCAR broadcasts."

In fact, there's just one problem: The poor gopher doesn't have a name.

But that's where you come in.

Send us your best suggestion as to what we should call the little fella. We'll sort through the best and come up with a name.

Until then, the gopher will continue to provide the most unique perspective the sport has to offer ... anonymously.

NASCAR Driver Tony Stewart Thrown from Car

Well in a TV commercial that is, actually it was voted the most popular ad during the Daytona 500. I missed it somehow and if you did also, it's on this page entitled: 'Toyota Fancontroller'

Purchasing a HDTV Justification, Part 2

When I was a kid I would skip High School and go downtown to see the Cinemascope or Panavision movies that Hollywood was putting out to compete with the 19 inch black & white screens of television. I always dreamed that I would have that format when I would watch those movies again on NBC’s Saturday Night at the Movies. Fast forward to today when that dream came a reality with HDTV.  And now sports comes on HDTV and to that, Auto Racing in High Def!

As I said in a previous post that I understand the fiscal realities of today’s economy but if you factor in the high cost of going out to a show or movie the meals the concessions and all it really is a bargain to get a HDTV and Hi Def programming source, which becomes a whole different kettle of fish because the limitations of the amount of channels you receive with cable versus satellite, but I digress…

The key is film director’s vision is wide screen, football fields are wide, and to have six times the definition of images really pleases the eye and senses and captivates one to the point of ecstasy!

So take that government check that is coming from our current president and spend it on a device that will bring pleasure even when it's turned off, cause they really are sharp space age looking contraptions that will delight and dazzle you and keep you off the streets at night.

Gophers and Ryan Newman Big Winners at Daytona 500

The Fox Gophers along with Ryan Newman won the Daytona 500. Newman who has the personality of a gopher, came up the winner of a caution filled ending to the Great American Race.
